One-Drop Rule
According to Paul Schor, the one-drop rule is a legal principle or social concept in the United States. It asserts that if someone has one or more ancestors from Africa, then he will be considered a Negro (black male or female). Thomas Jefferson is the best example of that. He was said to have one of his ancestors from Africa, meaning he was a Negro male. He gained fame as the primary author of the Declaration of Independence (Schor 2017).
Pan-Asian Movement
According to Cemil Aydin, Pan-Asianism or Pan-Asian Movement is an ideology of Asians that helps them maintain their unity and distinctive characteristics. A lot of movements, historical monuments and theories are associated with Pan-Asianism. For example, prior to the World War II, it was believed that the Japanese had their own identity which could not be mixed with another Asian community. They were encouraged to unite as a distinctive force against Europeans (Aydin 2013).
