My overall impression of the slideshow is the application of photography, mass media, and the internet in the modern world for individuals to communicate and express their messages. The first three words that come to my mind while describing the slideshow are the power of technology. If I could write one sentence about the slideshow entirely, it could be the power of journalism and technology coupled with freedom of expression to make the world a better living place for each person.

In terms of framing, the image that stood out to me is the traffic reminder to wash hands and stay healthy on a Los Angeles freeway on 16th March 2020. The traffic reminder appeared during a time when the coronavirus disease halted various operations in California, and multiple European nations started their weeks with lockdowns. The image is more interesting since not many people expect to see such messages on a freeway. As a result, the framing of the image helps manipulate the viewpoint allowing the viewers’ attention to focus on the traffic reminder and the meaning of the reminders’ surroundings. I think the image stands out in terms of framing since the primary goal of image framing is to attract viewers’ attention to an image.

The image that stood out to me in terms of civil disobedience is the image of two women holding anti-vaccination signs during protests against the stay-at-home orders issued by Governor Jay Inslee. The world has witnessed the adverse effects of covid-19 due to the high number of deaths and economic sabotage. Regarding this, the benefits of being vaccinated cannot be understated. The vaccine helps individuals save their lives by providing strong protection against critical illness and death. Vaccination also prevents the transmission of the virus from one person to another, thus protecting people around you. However, vaccinated people can still infect other unvaccinated people. In sum, vaccination is an essential aspect of fighting the virus, and people need to adhere to directives provided by the healthcare sector to facilitate the elimination of coronavirus.

The image that stood out to me the most in terms of protest is the image of an anti-war activist marching from the white house to Washington DC. The demonstrators were protesting the United States drone attack that killed general Soleimani in Iraq, resulting in tension between the two nations. The protestors were against war between the two nations, with some claiming that the United States should withdraw its troops from the Middle East. War in the 21st century is unbearable, as depicted by the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The war between two nations has affected almost the entire globe due to high inflation, humanitarian crisis, and environmental crisis. The world had not recovered from the adverse effects of covid-19 when the war began, and the European region suffered economic consequences since they highly depend on Russian oil and gas.
