Development of a continuing Education

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a continuing education program in a staff development department. It is recommended that this assignment be a result of the previously conducted Needs Assessment. Guidelines: Students will develop a continuing nursing education (CNE) program for staff based on the results of the previously developed needs assessment. State your rationale for selection of your (CNE) program The program to be developed is to be a minimum of five (5) contact hours for example: a. series of specific content focused classes (respiratory; cardiovascular) b. certification review c. 1 day seminar d. all day workshop e. research conference; etc. For the 5-hour program, identify: Title of the program Overall goal/purpose Program description Number of CNEs Identification of target audience Identify members of the planning committee How will you market the program, disseminate the information about the program? For each hour of the program develop the following: a. Goal for the program: b. Objectives (Specific, Measurable,Attainable, Relevant Time bound (SMART) – minimum of 3-see example below c. Topical outline d. Time: e. Resources Evaluation method(s) (include a copy) Also, develop 1 multiple choice question for each objective Example: Objectives Content (Topics) Time Frame (Minutes) Presenter Teaching Strategies List objectives in measurable learner outcomes (SMART). Objectives must be consistent with the purpose. The learner will be able to: List each topic area and a description or outline of the content to be presented. The content must be directly related to the corresponding objectives. List minutes for each topic & for post testing & evaluation. List the faculty person or presenter for each topic.
