A holistic approach to wellness includes a focus to the mind, body, and spirit. Wellness is a broad approach that involves all the dimensions of a person’s life. The six dimensions of wellness enables people to live well, influence healthy choices and has a greater impact on the physical wellbeing of a person. These six dimensions include; social, physical, intellectual, emotional, occupational, and spiritual. Lifestyle choices and wellness decisions at any age affects the quality of life. An approach less than the wellness approach increases harm due to the potential to miss diagnosis CITATION Mic14 \l 1033 (Nickels, 2014). It does not optimize on health and wellness.
Self-assessment allows individuals to learn about the health and health risks. Taking the six dimensions of wellness, there is need to balance all the six aspects in my life. There is need to incorporate these three; emotional, physical, and social for an all balanced lifestyle CITATION Oli11 \l 1033 (Emisar, 2011). Self-assessment hence enables an individual to connect with every dimension, which contribute to healthy living.
In order to improve current health; below are some of the ways to incorporate into the daily routine. Emotional and spiritual health enables better control of thoughts and behaviors and keeping problems in perspective. To achieve this, a relaxation room will be appropriate. This room should have a couch for resting and soft music will play, it will also have helpful books and tools that alleviate stress. Alternatively, a spa is the best stress reduction technique. Spa has services such as facials, body wraps, and massages. Massages have a range of benefits such as boosting immunities by motivating lymph flow, relieving low-back pain, and relieving depression CITATION BBr01 \l 1033 (Brehm, 2001).
Social support encourages achieving goals and living a healthy life. Social networks and friendship fosters a sense of belonging. To improve social wellbeing, there is need to start by joining clubs at work, hosting social events such as birthday celebrations to bring people together. Book clubs are the best as they involve people of similar interests and it assists people know each other outside that environment.
Physical wellbeing involves a balanced and comprehensive lifestyle. It includes regular physical activities. Optimality of this involves good habits and good exercise. To achieve this, there is need to build physical strength by going to the gym or taking a short run regularly or at l...
