Article 1# Nguyen, K1., Nguyen, P2. & Jones, L. (2008). Effectiveness of an alcohol-based hand hygiene programme in reducing nosocomial infections in the Urology Ward of Binh Dan Hospital, Vietnam. Tropical Medicine and International Health, 13(10):1297-1302
This article consists of an experimental type of research conducted in a hospital setting in Bihn Dan Hospital, Vietnam (Nguyen1, Nguyen2 & Jones, 2008). The research had numerous practical experiments hence used different sizes of samples. Among the samples, there was an experimental and a control group. All were appropriate and randomized. Researchers made interventions such as introducing hand hygiene programme for patients that were admitted in the hospital. The control group in the article includes patients whose hand hygiene programme was not implemented during their stay in hospital. Notably, apart from interventions, the sample groups were treated equally. Upon a careful review of the article, the authors have given an adequate description of how data was collected. After the experiments, results obtained are clearly presented and analysis provided. Conclusions made are based on results presented. However, the authors have not indicated whether there were limitations faced during the study. Moreover, though the article has provided pertinent findings, there are no suggested recommendations.

This article is a meta-analysis study to examine the effects of hand hygiene on patients’ health in intensive care units (Wandel et al, 2013). The study is set in Ghent University Hospital which is a tertiary referral center. The researchers used samples though they have not clearly indicated how they came up with the sample. Therefore, it is not easy to determine whether the sample was appropriate or randomized.
