Introduction
Aging is a lifelong process that starts at birth and only stops upon death. Although there are many factors that determine how well individuals age, psychological and physiological factors are central to this process. Research shows that the passage of years increases the likelihood of depression. Although many people believe that depression comes along with old age, research has indicated that this is not the case. Loneliness is linked to serious health-related implications and is considered to be among the major causes of depression among the older population. A large body of research has also showed that the level of sociability has a direct link in cushioning people from experiencing psychological distress. The average age that people live has been increasing significantly, but the physical challenges that aged people experience have persisted (Singh, & Misra, 2009). Depression and loneliness are considered to be some of the factors that reduce the quality of life among aged people and it is, therefore, crucial to understand if there is a link between these factors and old age.
Research Methodology
Materials
The research will use a sample of 55 people who are between the ages of 60-80 years. The researcher will personally administer the questionnaire to the participants. This will ensure that all the materials get to the participants in good time.
