Women rights have come a long way as the rights have thrived through the narrow confines of cultural practices that have marginalized the female gender. Subsequently, a significant number of societies in the global context depict aspects of inequality from their perceptions that females are an inferior gender as compared to the male gender. Scholars around the globe conduct studies and produce prominent literature materials to help one understand the history of the woman’s rights movement. In the period around the 19th and 20th century, there was a global quest for women recognition, gender parity and women participation in male dominated societies. The quest further propelled actions such as protesting in order to come up with a movement that fought for women rights around the globe. The paper aims at showing the history and growth of the woman’s right movement.
There are diverse cultures around the globe with timely dynamic views on women. Most of the cultural practices round the globe marginalize and view the female gender as subject to the male gender (Burgess, 2013). Roles such as leadership are male dominated as the societies view women to be quite incapable to such type of roles. Most of the women assume family related roles such as partaking in the household and home chores. However, women could also assume most roles that cultures give to men. From this point of view, women started fighting for the rights to get equal recognition as males in most of the societies.
The period with prominent fights and struggle of women right was the 19th and 20th centuries. The period started expressing prominent aspects of fighting for gender parity around the globe. Most states further incorporated aspects of gender parity to their institutions and their legal state frameworks such as the constitution. Conversely, some states and societies had prominent and firm beliefs concerning the male gender dominance in most of the roles. The aspects of adamancy into their old retrogressive cultural practices hindered liberalistic ideas that viewed men and women equally. From the adamancy, some states showed ignorance and suppression to the new lifestyles on the gender equality perspective.
