Reasons of Prohibition Alcohol in US
The Eighteenth Amendment bill prohibited the transportation, and selling of alcoholic substances with the motive of adopting a national control movement that believed that the use of alcohol was out of control and caustic in America. Among the issues that propelled this prohibition included many women who came out to bring reforms on alcohol related issues. They linked wife beating, child abuse, and less labor productivity to alcohol consumption ("Prohibition ends, " 2010). This ban was instilled to reduce crime, corruption, find solutions to the social issues, decrease the need for prisons and rehabilitation centre’s, and also improve the health of the American citizens.
Sources disclose that even before the 18th Amendment went through the process of ratification, about 65 percent of the country’s population had already banned alcohol. Seven states were reported to have adopted this prohibition that enacted constraints on alcoholic substances ("Prohibition ends, " 2010). America’s entry into the World War greatly impacted this prohibition and made it look patriotic since it was believed that the German Americans were the owners of breweries. Events that took place during the prohibition
During the prohibition it is reportedly said that the rate at which alcohol was being consumed declined. Alcohol related death also reduced significantly. The 18th amendment repeal (21 amendments) on alcohol prohibition in America
The Prohibition in America was then reviewed by millions of Americans as the solution to end some of the social ills that were experienced ("Prohibition, " 2013). Unfortunately, this amendment to ban alcohol not only failed to deliver its promises to the people but created more serious and irritating social problems in the society, a factor that disappointed its supporters.
The author of this material Prohibition ends (2010) states that none of the issues that were to be solved by this bill had been addressed. He pointed that less drunkenness in the country turned to more and that there was no decrease in crime but an increase. The ratification after going through a series of test was completed on Decemb...
