Running head: POPULAR MEDIA Popular Culture and Electronic Media Paper Name: University: Course: Tutor: Date: Popular Culture and Electronic Media Paper Introduction The issue of electronic media and popular culture is marked with many controversies with potential debates ranging from its impacts on social responsibilities to work, justice and law. The controversy is compounded by the fact that technology advancement has been on the increase in the recent past due to the increase of dependency on information and communication in the modern world. As a consequence therefore, the electronic media has become a reliable and a common source of information yet it has confirmed to have far reaching impacts on our daily activities. In this interest therefore, this paper is written. It focuses on the roles that electronic media have played in the development of American popular culture. This is achieved through making advertisements on the internet, television and video which have the advantage of reaching a large number of people instantaneously. Another point worthy noting is the role played by the electronic media in the education and research sector in America. Unlike in the past when research and academic papers where official only when published on paper, electronic media has proved and widely accepted as a cheaper and more reliable way of publishing research, academic and scientific journals (Hein, 2006). The information can easily be accessed by the intended recipients, challenged and or approved. The entertainment sector has also enjoyed the benefits of advancement in the electronic media.
