Introduction
China is one of the biggest countries, oldest and the most populated in the entire world. Due to the huge population of Chinese people, some of them chose to move to other countries and settled there. As a matter of fact, most of the Chinese migrated from china to the United States of America during early years and acquired and became the citizens of the United States. In the past two decades, china’s economy has grown so much that it is the second in the world. Due to the growth of China’s economy as result of the industrialization in the country, majority of Chinese people can now afford to send their children abroad to further their university education. For instance, there are a lot of Chinese students in most universities across U.S. Chinese are the leading foreign students in universities and colleges in America. It is also important to note that there are also Chinese American students and Chinese students that have come from China to study in American universities. There is a big difference between the American-born Chinese students and Chinese students that have gone to America for studies only (Hammond, 4).
This essay explores similarities and differences between Chinese American Students and original or traditional Chinese students in the United States.

America- Born Chinese Students History
The history of the immigrants Chinese in the United States dates back to 1800s. In 1800s, Chinese people decided to make a tiresome journey to America despite the staring face of the racial discrimination America during that period and possible economic hardship. Since then, there have been quite a good number of Chinese Americans residing in the United States as citizens. The first major population of the Chinese people migrated into America after they heard about the famous Gold Mountain in 1848. They attracted to America as a result of the Gold rush in California. Immigration of Chinese people by early 1848 was further increased when famine and civil war broke out in China. The civil war and the famine that took place mainly in the Southern part of China motivated Chinese people to go to America and work in the industries there. They mostly went to the United States to work in the industries and agricultural farms there so that they could send money back home to their starving families. They were mostly men that migrated to America. They went to America via the sea using steamship and they first landed in San Francisco’s harbor. In addition to that, it is important to note that, the first China town was built in San Francisco. In 1865, another large group of Chinese immigrants went to America to work on the Transcontinental Railroad. They offered cheap labor cost as compared to other laborers that were also working on the same industry. They were also able to endure tough and dangerous working condition.
