Change management refers to methods and ways companies describe and implement change within their external and internal processes. It is a systematic approach to applying knowledge, resources, and tools to effectively lead to the company's success. When understood very well, these tools make work easier and help deliver change with minimum risk. Statistics plays a crucial role in the techniques and tools of change management.
Statistics involves collecting, organizing, analyzing, and drawing meaningful conclusions from data. Various statistical tools and techniques such as interviews, surveys, and questionnaires are useful in change management in identifying stakeholders' expectations, measuring satisfaction, and determining what must be improved. Statistics enables change managers to analyze previous performance and predict future practices of their businesses. One of the methods that help in finding trends in data is regression analysis.
Simple linear regression allows researchers to study and summarize the relationship between quantitative variables. This statistical method estimates the relationship between one response variable and one predictor variable. If the relationship between the two variables follows a straight line, then the regression is simple linear regression.
Simple linear regression has the equation of the form
y = bx + a
Where y is the value of the variable being predicted (dependent variable), x is the dependent variable (value of the variable you already know), b is the slope of the line, and a is the y-intercept.
The first step in carrying out a simple linear regression analysis is by first listing the data into two columns (independent and dependent variables). The second step involves making a scatter plot to check whether the data roughly fits a straight line. After these steps, you can find the regression equation using various statistical software such as Excel or SPSS.
Simple Linear Regression using SPSS
We will use the Caffeine Dose and IQ score data to perform a simple linear regression in SPSS. The first step involves defining the name, type, label, and measurements of the two variables in the variable view. The second step involves keying the specific data into the two columns (Caffeine Dose column and IQ_Score column).
Scatter Plot
The next step is to check whether there exists a relationship between the Caffeine dose of an individual ...
