Introduction
To maintain an integral appropriate sized submarine force is a significant part of the United States approach for mitigating, and if appropriate conducting wartime operations with the view of protecting the citizens from any harm. Since the end of the Cold War, there have been significant changes that have led the Department of Defense to induce proper measures to advance the submarine force (Commander, Submarine Forces 2014). This paper, therefore, seeks to underline the descriptions of the Submarine and the job functions associated with the firm.
Description and Organization Structure of the Commander Submarine Force Atlantic
The Submarine Force falls within the Department of the Navy and is designed as a general purpose force that is readily prepared to support the National needs of the Americans and the world at large. The Commander Submarine Force provides a National Command Authority that is responsible for the conduct of operations across the wide spectrum of conflicts. The Commander Submarine Force has responded to natural disasters and to a specter of regional aggression, by providing a self-contained and self-sustained land, air, and sea strike forces that operate within a protected sea base, tailored to battle any contingency (Commander, Submarine Forces 2014).
The organizational structure of the Commander Submarine Force is governed by two parallel chains of command-Operational and Service. The service chain is headed by the President, through the Secretary of Defense and continues through the Secretary of the Navy and lastly to the Commandant of the Commander Submarine. In addition to this, the operational chain in the Navy begins with the President, to the Secretary of Defense, directly to the commanders of combatant commands who are in charge of the missions that are assigned within their commands (Commander, Submarine Forces 2014). The Commander Submarine Force provides operational forces to commanders and their operational commanders as stipulated. The Commander Submarine is therefore in its structure divided into four broad categories; The Marine Corp Reserve, the operating forces, the support establishment, and the Headquarters U.S. Marine.
