Nursing standards of practice are put in place to guide the nursing practice. Every registered nurse is expected to follow these guidelines regardless of their specialty. However, in special instances, such as a disaster, the regulations are bound to a formal revision (Kecojevic et al., 2020). In New Jersey, the process of making such standards involves the identification of professional and self-regulations as a way of gaining and maintaining public trust. A code of ethics is then designed to guide the actions of every nurse. Standards of practice are then outlined to ensure that every nurse adheres to them. The process considers the well-being of both the nurses and the public.
The New Jersey Board of Nursing is responsible for developing such standards in New Jersey state. The body is responsible for ensuring the safety of new jersey residents.
