The Johns Hopkins Hospital is world-renowned for it is among the best hospitals not only in the United States. It is currently located in Baltimore, Maryland, and is mainly the teaching hospital and biomedical research facility of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Just as the name suggests, the hospital's founder was the millionaire banker and philanthropist Johns Hopkins, who was said to be a grocer at one point in his life. Unfortunately, Johns Hopkins died in 1873, even before seeing the hospital's blueprints, let alone its construction (Medicine J. H., 2021). Still, he detailed what he wanted for the hospital in the last months of his life, saying, " In all your arrangements in relation to the hospital, you will bear constantly in mind that it is my wish and purpose that the institution should ultimately form a part of the medical school of that university for which I have made ample provision by my will …" (Medicine J.H., 2021). Construction officially began in 1877 and was completed in 1889, when it opened. Therefore, this is why the hospital is a teaching hospital.
