The final course paper (~2 pages) is an individual written and potential oral assignment in which students are asked to integrate their learnings from the course and create a comprehensive guide for themselves of the essentials for successful leadership. The paper and oral presentation should include the most important lessons about leadership and organizations taken from course readings, activities, and the reasons these are personally meaningful. For the detail, the basics of your leadership guide from an analysis of your course learning and of your individual leadership. The course has provided a theoretical framework for thinking broadly about leadership and its components that you can draw-upon to describe your leadership understandings, critical reminders, and philosophy and to explore how all that translates into a leadership approach and practice. Leadership is the ongoing process of cultivating and sustaining a relationship between those aspiring to lead and those demonstrating an authentic willingness to follow (Gallos 3). Successful leadership inspires followers to become more productive, creative, and innovative (Ndisya 5; Gallos 295). The course readings contributed to the understanding that there are tremendous discrepancies in leadership approaches, and it is necessary to establish various frameworks that assist in establishing and recognizing different leadership styles. Amid the instabilities within the business's external environment, organizations are now forced to rethink their modes of operations, including leadership approaches, to achieve sustainability. This paper delineates my key leadership understandings, critical reminders, and philosophy based on the leadership models and components of the course materials.
Leadership involves coping with change. More specifically, it entails adapting to the realities of a dynamic and ever-evolving business world (C_Suite_PP_#2). This calls for reframing one’s leadership approaches to ensure all aspects of a situation are considered before making a decision. A successful leader should, therefore, employ different leadership approaches based on the situation, including structural, human resource, political, and symbolic leadership (C_Suite_PP_#3). Overall, the best leadership style should be anchored on lessons learned concerning the leaders themselves, people, and the business environment (C_Suite_PP_#4). This kind of approach to leadership also requires the individual to demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence and humility in their practice (C_Suite_PP_#5). As many companies shift with the current technological improvements, leadership should leverage the value of techies in creating, supporting, and maintaining technology in order to remain viable and innovative (C_Suite_PP_#7; Gutu et al. 2). Therefore, leaders should demonstrate a transformational vision in order to challenge the status quo and develop resilience amid the volatile global business landscape (C_Suite_PP_#8).
