Therefore, the kind of organizational structure used has a huge impact on the ability of the project manager and project team to complete the project effectively. The article argues out that each project has unique characters, and therefore, the type of organizational structure used should be considerate of the project characteristics and environment. It should also consider the level of authority that will be given to the project manager. Therefore, a project can take different forms whereby each of them has its characteristics and advantages. The article outlines the Maintenance Plan for the APE 1236 Hazardous Waste Incinerator by showing the different phases of the project (Andrews, Jenkins, Kiernan & McDonald, 2018). The project managers used the Matrix organizational chat structure in the completion of the project. They used an excel sheet to record the data that would be required in the maintenance and facilitation of future operations. The project further addresses the first three faces of the SDP and its involvement in the plan for the APE 1236 incinerator. The author offers an analysis, findings, and an outline of the final proposed solution by the project management team. The contents of the article indicate that the matrix organizational chart played a substantial role in ensuring the success of the project as a result of its advantages. It allowed the project team members to share the skilled resources between the projects and the functional units. The process of communication was open, and this made it for the members to pass across information without much obstruction. Communication is one of the key aspects of project management since passing the wrong information can result in altering the project's outcome. The members wish for the project to be perfect, and hence, this can be best done by having an effective communication channel. This method is focused on communication, and therefore, it lessens the boundaries between groups. As a result, the lack of strict boundaries between groups allows for the members to have an effective collaboration and a dynamic organization. It is a great organizational structure of encouraging employees to gain skills in different areas since they get an opportunity to participate in different aspects of the different products. It is a way of professionally growing employees. However, the article did not address the challenges that were encountered during the whole project management process. A quality project is created in the case whereby the project team members face challenges and in turn, work to come up with solutions to overcome the challenges. As a result, they end up with a high-quality project and experience of how to deal with such challenges whenever they occur in the future. Therefore, identifying the challenges faced would have been a great way of the author showing that the organization would be able to come up with better projects in the future.
