Overview
Blogs, LinkedIn articles, and other online publications are channels of communication through which people can share their experience, perspectives, and expertise directly with readers—and readers can respond via electronic comments. While these electronic channels are usually not as credible as scholarly publications, they are a great way for readers to learn about new topics and for writers to share their insight and expertise with a virtual audience. They are also often supported with references to case studies, reports, and other research.
In this assignment, you will share your knowledge of what globalization is and why organizations consider global expansion by writing an article intended for a virtual, professional audience.
Prompt
Create an article that could be shared online that defines key terms, explains fundamental concepts, and shares relevant examples as to why domestic businesses should consider expansion into global markets. The article should have a brief introduction that explains what readers will gain from the post, a body that provides content supported with textual evidence from the course resources, and a conclusion that summarizes key takeaways for the reader.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Types of Business Environments: Differentiate between domestic and international business environments by defining and providing key characteristics of each type, using supporting evidence.
Example Organizations: Identify examples of domestic and international organizations and explain how they meet the criteria for each type of organization, using supporting evidence.
Benefits of Expansion: Explain the key benefits of international and global expansion for domestic businesses, providing specific examples and using supporting evidence.
Ethical Considerations: Explain the role of ethics in making business decisions regarding expansion to a new market and how ethical decision-making frameworks can be used to help make these decisions. Use supporting evidence as appropriate.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit your article as a Word document between 350 and 500 words in length. Use APA formatting and cite your sources according to APA style.

Business
Every business seeks to break its borders and expand its sphere of influence. Those operating within a particular locale seek to extend their sphere of influence to other parts of a state. Those whose influence is state-wide seek to conquer other states and become country-wide businesses. Further, those that have already extended their sphere of influence to all corners of a country seek to conquer the world. Running a business is thus a never-ending process that calls for adapting and change throughout the entirety of a business.
Types of Business Environments: Differentiate between domestic and international business environments by defining and providing key characteristics of each type, using supporting evidence.
A domestic business environment is an operational environment within the borders of a particular country. The businesses and companies operating within a domestic business environment do not conduct any of their business outside their country’s borders. Such businesses are governed by the rules and regulations that have been developed in the host country (Surbhi, 2017). Therefore, changes in the international market do not directly impact their operations. Also, Surbhi (2017) adds that businesses in the domestic business environment encounter fewer challenges with regard to the movement of factors of production.
On the other hand, an international business environment is one that is outside the borders of any one country. Organizations that operate in the international business environment have branches and subsidiaries in other countries (Surbhi, 2017). Unlike the domestic business environment, this environment is directly impacted by any changes in the international markets. Also, global rules and regulations and the host country’s rules and regulations happen to impact the running of an international organization. Ferreira, Li, and Guisinger (2007) note that the international business environment comes with certain risks, including political risks, legal issues, cultural differences, and exchange risks.
Example Organizations: Identify examples of domestic and international organizations and explain how they meet the criteria for each type of organization, using supporting evidence.
A company that fits the profile of an international organization is Google. Currently, Google operates in more than 200 countries (Goldman, 2015). As a result, the company is greatly affected by challenges or unexpected events that happen in a country like Kenya. For example, as Kharpal (2020) notes, Google and other platforms disappeared in China because of the government’s decision to block them. Such issues happen to impact these major companies because of their increased spheres of influence.
A good example of a domestic organization is Williams Motor Co Holdings Ltd. This company has been in operation for years. However, Bloomberg (2021) indicates that it only serves customers in the United Kingdom. Thus, for Williams, the only restrictions the management needs to worry about are those within the U.K., unlike Google, which has to worry about the restrictions of specific countries.
