Through his work in "The art of loving," Fromm (1989), the author wishes to demonstrate that love is not a concept that everyone can readily participate in by everyone, irrespective of his degree of maturity. The protagonist wishes to persuade the reader that all of his efforts at love will fail until he works hard to improve his whole identity to obtain a productive direction; that ideal love cannot be satisfied without genuine modesty, bravery, faith, and dedication; and that real love cannot be satisfied without true humility, bravery, belief, and dedication.
