The achievement of organizational goals depends on various factors such as the leadership style used, the organizational structure, and the ways of motivating the employees, among others. The organizational structure is the most important aspect of enhancing the success of an organization since it plays a role in the kind of leadership styles used. The structure enables organizations to create a conducive work environment depending on the chain of command. In the case of universities, debates have arisen as to which between the hierarchical and the matrix organizational structures work best to enhance the ability to deal with a divergent student population. An organizations structure plays a substantial role in determining the ways in which campus would be able to cater to the divergent needs of students and workers. As well, our organization uses the hierarchical structure to promote innovation.
Serving the diverse population of campus requires a defined organizational structure to ensure that the needs of each of the students are catered for. Therefore, the organizational structure plays a role in creating a defined chain of command where students can present their needs for actions to be taken. The structures provide guidance to the employees by making clear the official reporting processes that control the workflow of the organization. In a campus environment, the divergent population has different needs which cannot be governed in the same way. Each of the needs requires special attention to allow for innovation and create a conducive environment for the students to study in. For instance, campus fraternities play a major role in enhancing diversity. Such fraternities require specific chains of command for them to be successfully run. The development of the chains of command requires the campus to have an organizational structure whereby each individual is aware of whom they should report to. Therefore, organizational structure plays a substantial role in managing and controlling the diverse campus population.
In addition, serving a diverse student population would require leaders to be open-minded in order to meet the needs of every student. The hierarchical organization structure would make it difficult for the campuses' ability to serve the diverse population due to the nature of its chain of command.
