EBOOK PROJECT
Part one
Who are the stakeholders in these eBook projects?
Identifying stakeholders in a project is very important; mostly, it shows that the project needs changes to overcome challenges or to achieve maximum results set by the organization (Aragonés-Beltrán, García-Melón & Montesinos-Valera, 2017). It is important to note that stakeholders are people, organizations, or a group interested in an ongoing project, and they are affected in one way or another by the project's outcome. In our case study, stakeholders will be the people interested in the ongoing customization of the eBook, trying to navigate the challenges they are facing. These stakeholders include; Global Green Books Publishing managers, the project supervisors, the students, suppliers, employees handling the project, and professors.
How are they involved in or affected by an eBook project?
Different stakeholders are affected by a project in different ways; also, they have different interests when investing in the project. Employees are the people who handle the whole activities of the project (Liang, Yu & Guo, 2017). It is important to note that there are both internal and external stakeholders in any organization. For example, internal stakeholders include the top management, top employees, managers and other leaders in the organization. They operate the machines and plan all the operations and any physical activated need during the publishing. Students benefit directly from eBooks because they are their institutions' primary learning materials. The project manager is in charge of the project, and their primary function is to oversee all the activities by ensuring that they run as planned and, in case of any problem, he or she can make the right decision. Suppliers ensure that the institutions receive the eBooks on time as agreed between the institution and the publishing company. Professors from the institution ensure that they give Global Green Books Publishing companies the specifications of what they expect the eBook to address since it is learning material for students. They work hand in hand with the publishing company to ensure quality learning material and the whole course is well covered. Lastly, the main objective of Global Green Books Publishing Company is to ensure the eBook is published per the requirements and preferences of customers from the first stage, which is the request stage of the last stage of the publishing process.
Why is it essential to have a defined project scope? Why is it essential to agree on the scope and what will be done in producing each eBook?
Managers need to have a well-defined project scope because it helps them stay on track and ensure that all the deadlines set at the beginning of the project are followed to the latter through the project cycle (Nummi, 2019). Also, a well-defined project scope helps the management avoid common issues which occur during a project, such as delays in meeting customers’ expectations. It is also important to note that without a project scope, it becomes impossible for managers to have a clue about the cost, time and labor involved in the project (ul Hassan, Ah...
