Tesla Cybertruck
Strategic plans shape a company's future and can contribute to gaining and sustaining a firm's competitive advantage. At the beginning of 2021, Elon Musk, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tesla, promised to implement its strategic plan of manufacturing and delivering the Cybertruck. Tesla is known for creating unique new car models, and Cybertruck will be an extension of the same. For example, about two weeks ago, Musk said that the Cybertruck would not have any door handles (Lambert). As such, Tesla is committed to providing unique and the best electric car designs, which has enabled the company to gain a significant market share in the automotive industry.
Musk's invention skills have significantly contributed to the growth of Tesla. Although he had said last year that Cybertrucks would be available in the market in 2022, it has become clear that a few deliveries of this unique truck will be in the market in late 2021. Cybertruck's design is something that individuals have never seen in the market. Besides, the Cybertruck will be very powerful since it will come with tri-motor variants (Ewing and Hyatt). Tesla expects to do the mass production of the Cybertrucks in its new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The plant is expected to be up and running by May of this year.
The Tesla Cybertruck will be a big pyramid-esque electric truck that has never been seen in the market before. So far, Tesla is renowned for its exquisite electric cars' designs. During a 2020 meeting with investors, Musk said that the design of the Cybertruck is ready and that the company is planning to order the equipment required to build this angular truck with stainless-steel panels. Furthermore, Musk said that a large casting machine, about 8,000-ton press, is required (Priddle).
