Contemporary society, especially the business environment, embraces Hofstede’s cultural dimensions that facilitate comprehension of the different cultures in various countries. Hofstede’s framework includes uncertainty avoidance, power distance, individualism, indulgence, masculinity, and long-term orientation (Hussein et al., 2018). According to Hofstede’s insights, the US scores relatively low (at 40) on power distance and high under individualism, which is at 91. This implies that the US lacks considerable levels of societal interdependence and, as such, cannot be considered a collectivist society (Garza et al., 2018). Furthermore, the power inequalities reception among people in the country is relatively low. In comparison, Nigeria scores higher on power distance and low on individualism. This indicates that Nigerian culture varies from the US. Nigeria embraces a collectivist society, including loyalty to group membership and family setups. Under power distance, it is evident that the people in Nigeria embrace inequalities, including accepting the fact that hierarchal order is prevalent in the region.
