What I Found Useful to Increase My Course Knowledge and Understanding
While all the readings, content, and course concepts added value to my academic understanding, the reading on the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was increasingly impactful. The reading is about PLA’s operational ideas and strategic plans. Since PLA has never participated in recent combat circumstances, the report covers how China’s PLA would handle warfare with its operational ideas devised following the strategic rules that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) specified (Burke et al. 2020, 9). I learned more about wars from reading and understanding the report. The report recognizes the relevance of ‘informatization’ within the organization’s warfare approach. It appreciates the importance of information as a war aspect, and the leading means to perform military disagreements. Developing a Strategic Support Force is identified as PLA’s efforts to include operations, cyber, space, and electromagnetic warfare information. Three interconnected operational understandings are necessary to reinforce PLA's values and doctrine for attaining its missions in the next two decades. This is President Xi Jinping’s PLA deadline to realize complete modernization. The concepts incorporate the reliance on information domination for war regulation and campaign prosperity, reducing combat space but increasing war space, and the execution of target-based warfare to conquer the opponent's operational system.
