Media effects refer to how media shapes people's beliefs, knowledge patterns, emotions, attitudes, and behaviors. Potter (2016) pointed out that media can also cause physiological reactions, including elevation of heart rate and rise in blood pressure. Media effects occur every day to everyone. Given this understanding, it is significantly vital that we develop a comprehensive perspective of what media effects are to understand and perceive the numerous products around us (Potter, 2016).
