Stem Cells Treat Breast Cancer
According to the study, patients in their stage four of breast cancer who received high dose of chemotherapy 12 to 14 years ago and then followed this up with specially prepared purified blood stem cells which had been purged of the cancer cells have survived (Shizuru, 2011). This is true compared to the patients that received blood grafts that was unmanipulated. This means that the stem cells were crucial in the treatment of the breast cancer (Sharp, & George, 2014). Considering the that the tests were carried out on stage four cancer patient, stems are a promising option for cancer treatment (Shizuru, 2011).
It is however important to point out that the sample size used in the study is rather small. This means that there is need to have a much larger study involving a larger. This will help to draw more conclusive evidence for the future of the treatment options for cancer patients and even other diseases (Shizuru, 2011).
The statistical analysis used in the study is very effective as it uses two sets of populations. Using one of the sample sets with the stem cells and the other without, helps with distinguishing the differences n the effectiveness of the treatment approaches...
