Personal Values You Believe Are Critical Components Of A Good Leader

Essay Instructions:

Journaling provides a valuable tool for recording, reflecting on, and reviewing your learning. This approach provides an opportunity for you to "connect the dots" and observe the relationships between and among activities, interactions, and outcomes.
Unlike a personal journal of thoughts and feelings, this Leadership Journal is a record of your activities, assessments, and learning related to this academic experience.
Journal entries should include a record of the number of hours spent with your nurse leader each week.
Write a journal entry of 750-1,500 words on the subject of example, including the following:
1. Provide observations and thoughts on the activities in 2-week continued Practicum on Oncology unit. Weeks 11-12.
2. Identify three to five personal values or characteristics that you believe are critical components of a good leader, such as honesty, compassion, or fairness. How do you express those values in your professional life?
3. Reflect on at least two things you learned from the "Issue of Example" video.

Introduction
Leadership has been defined as many diverse ways as there are conceptual and practical aspects where leadership is evident. However, these many ways of defining the art of leadership depend on the type and manner of leadership in question. For instance, leadership in an organization is completely different from the type of leadership that group of people has. Leadership involves several functions and roles that the individual hold when they are in the position of leadership, they include; policy and laws are making, guiding and directing their subjects, representing their subjects on a higher platform (Haber & Buckley, 2015).
Leadership is the act of influencing, guiding, leading other people to a common interest has been adopted to be the universal definition by many across the world which was developed by Western academic environments. The claim that leadership is an inborn trait and must come through one's blood has been deemed baseless and a mere belief that the anarchist dictators used to continue with their ruthless rules.
Observation and Thoughts in week 11-12
In a practicum Oncology session, it is a good platform to showcase and utilize the art of being a good and example-setting leader that is to be followed. In the delegation of duties assigned to me, I would make sure that all the values that define a good leader as a nurse are evident and seen in me.
Research has shown that people will always look for someone who did what they want to do and did it very well and that it can be emulated. Breaking of records in the different competition is a perfect example. Liden, Wayne, Liao &Meuser (2014) believes that people will always break the previous record by emulating the record holder and trying very hard to do what they did in a better way and version. It is clear that what made the person break the record is the fact that they did not start from scratch, but rather from first overcoming the previous record holder's ability and achievements.
Personal values as a component of a good leader
Personal characteristics that are of paramount importance to anyone who is aspiring or already leading individual. Character traits that are of great importance include honesty, humility and compassion among other (Sipe, & Frick, 2015).
Honesty is the art and value of telling the truth and being free from ill-will and malicious thoughts towards anyone who is close to you. This is a powerful tool if utilized by leaders in different platforms and positions (Sipe, & Frick, 2015). When a leader starts to peddle lies and making unfulfilling promises. They start to lose the trust of their subjects, and they thus don't lead as an example to the others.
