The “Neurological and Endocrine Disorders” topic incorporates multiple areas linked to the central nervous and endocrine systems. Of the many sections covered, the one that I found most interesting and important was the topic of “Neurotransmitters and their Role in Neurological Disorders.” Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers released from the presynaptic neuron. They often bind themselves to receptors in the postsynaptic neuron, permitting the transmission of signals from one neuron to another. They are involved in a variety of neurological processes and have been found to be involved in the development of various neurological and psychiatric disorders.
