President Obama signed into law on December 13, 2016, based on the FDA's efforts to include patient's perspectives in the development of drugs. This decision by the FDA intends to modernize present clinical trial designs to come up with clinical outcomes that use real-world evidence in its assessment. Consequently, the development and review of biological products will become more efficient, and patients in new will get their treatment on time.
To achieve this, the FDA has obtained the ability to recruit and retain scientific, technical, and professional experts that it deems valuable to the organization. Additionally, the Cures Act mandated the FDA to invest in one or more intercenter institutes that will help in coordinating activities within the organization. More effort is put towards drug, biologics, and device centers in significant disease areas to help regulate and combine medical products. The Act allocated $500 million in nine years to aid the FDA in the efficient implementation of the law.
