According to Clarke (2000), system thinking involves the concept of referring to a particular organization and unit as composed of subsystems that operate smoothly to help in the smooth running of the system. More often than not, a system consists of smaller units that are integral parts of the whole unit and which constitute it. System thinking is a way of helping one view a system from a broad perspective that involves seeing overall structure, patterns and cycles in systems rather than seeing only specific events in the system. This paper is an attempt to look at the implications of policy thinking on Verizon Wireless that has- over the years- come out as a successful wireless provider that serves millions of subscribers.
Verizon Wireless is an American broadband and Telecommunications Company and a corporate component of the Dow Industrial Average. Upon its inception, the company became the largest local telephone company in the United States. This success can be attributed to the components that make it a system that in a nutshell contributed to the quick establishment and success of the company. The components include subsidiaries as well as partner enterprises that helped the company to establish. As an organization, it is divided into three business unit: wireless, residential and small business services as well as enterprise services. These groups promote the total efficiency of the company by working as separate entities but with the same company strategies and interests. It is also paramount as it helps to reach a wider spectrum of its audience hence widening the market and face of any competition (Moore & Little 1967)
Verizon Wireless provides mobile phone, text message and data services for phones, tablets, and computers as well as wireless hotspot devices. The roles are well defined to help in the general planning of the company. With these clearly spelled out duties, the company has been identified to offer quality services. The decisions have made the company to top sales and hit the highest market rank and hence masking the other wireless companies offering the same services (Clarke, S. 2000)
The application of analysis to organizations helps one to understand better the various components and how they influence each other. This, in the long run, helps organizations in making strides in accomplishment of their objectives as well as improving performance. Interchangeable parts, assembly line, mass production, and division of labor, job descriptions as well hierarchy are all characteristics of a system that make operate with ease.
