Social workers earliest practitioners focused on organized relief of people living in poverty and other vulnerable circumstances. This was manifested in social workers’ social reform efforts planned to address the deadly environment determinants of problems related to poverty, insufficient housing, health care, mental illness, alcoholism, and violence.
The most important thing during this period was the proliferation of commentary on core social work values. Social workers are supposed to posses three types of values.
