Humanistic School of Thought The primary emphasis of humanistic psychology is the goodness of people and self-actualization. The third-force psychology movement that was initiated by Abraham Maslow and other psychologists in the 1960s focused on humans' positive aspects and uniqueness (Henley, 2018). In particular, human individuality is crucial for people to self-actualize. Self-actualization refers to individuals’ realization and achievement of their full potential and the appreciation of life. My professional goal is to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Notably, I want to help individuals change their behaviors positively after assessing their challenges.
