Anglo American Company is a mining company that has been known for its mining activities, the company is a mine and producer of products such as Copper, Nickel, Iron Ore, coal and Diamonds. The company has mine sites in various continents in the world including Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and the entire American region (Dendrobium, 2009).
In order for the company to conduct its activities in the mining sites in the different regions, the company has to fulfill some requirements that will ensure that the company doesn’t affect the people living in the region. Some legislative requirements include the following, acts that were passed by the legislations of the respective continents they operate this includes the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act), and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001. The Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO act) caters for the offences and licensing related to waste management (Dendrobium, 2009). While, the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001 caters for the correct measures for waste disposal.
The company should be able to adhere to the requirements of the Federal and State legislations of the various regions it operates. These legislations offer the environment living around the mine site some protection that will prevent them from facing any form environmental disturbance from the mine site.
The states and the federal legislature have set laws that aim at conserving the environment; therefore the laws will prevent the company from destroying the environment and at the same time provide its workers with protective measures when performing there tasks (Dendrobium, 2009).
