Academy Award Winning Film Version Of West Side Story
Please watch the Academy award-winning film version of "West Side Story."
You will then write your observations of the film. There is no right or wrong. There is simply well-considered opinion and reaction to the film.
Simply watch the movie and form your own opinion. I want no citations. I want only your opinion.
Then write a 3-4 page paper, double spaced, that explores your reaction to the storytelling. Do the songs add to or lessen the tension? Does a gang of dancing and signing members work for you? Does the language of the lyricist work when they avoid profanity? Does the choreography simulate violence? Based on your knowledge of Romeo and Juliet, does this version work?
