Response One
Hello Desarey Resendez,
Indeed, immune suppressants block or suppress the action of the immune system. They are usually given during organ transplantation or in the case of an autoimmune disease (Children's Health. (2023). In these cases, the immune system may rise against the body, destroying healthy cells, leading to organ rejection after transplantation and autoimmune diseases.
Using immune modulators in pediatric care should be carefully reviewed. This is because they may cause severe side effects. Additionally, most immune modulators have yet to undergo critical testing for their safety and efficacy in children. Fundamental teaching needs for a pediatric patient receiving an immune stimulant include the need for close monitoring to check for negative and positive effects. Teaching should also be given on drug usage and storage.
