Gold Star Mothers: Their Resilience and Struggles
PROJECT PRESENTATION: OUTLINE ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
You are to create a Project Presentation on a topic relating to military families and “resilience.” For instance, if the topic is the impact of military service-member substance abuse disorders on the military family, you must discuss the problem and then describe a secondary prevention or intervention program (choosing evidence-based practices wherever possible). You must also provide a clear and explicit tie to resilience and the family.
As part of this assignment, you will create and submit your own Project Presentation: Outline.
INSTRUCTIONS
You are to create an outline for the Project Presentation on a topic related to military families and resilience. This assignment will help you organize your research and provide a framework of what you expect your Project Presentation to look like. Organize your main talking points in a standard alpha-numeric outline with at least 4–6 main level headings that are also at least 2 levels deep presented in current APA format. You must properly cite scholarly research to support your main talking points. Do not forget to define your audience as a pre-text and include both audience exercises and your Christian worldview.
Please view the Project Presentation: Outline Template.

Introduction
A. Background information on Gold Star Mothers: They are a special group of women who have experienced the unimaginable loss of their children due to military service (Presson, 2022). Because children's sacrifice is so often recognized nationally, they experience a double loss.
B. The overarching research question is: Does these mothers' resilience differ based on having other kids, how they view the government, and how they feel about the military?
II Definitions
A. Gold Star Mothers: Females whose sons or daughters gave their lives while serving in the armed forces.
B. Resilience: The capacity to respond effectively to trauma, adversity, or additional major stress causes (Masten, 2021).
i. During this exercise, participants will be asked to choose whether they would compare the way they react to trauma and stress to an egg breaking or a tennis ball bouncing back. Understanding one's own fortitude and coping strategies is facilitated by this allegory.
