I want to major in business because the business world offers unlimited opportunities for professional and personal development. Professionally, a degree in business will give me access to diverse career opportunities across many industries. It will also give me advanced knowledge in finance, economics, and management, allowing me to work in different professional roles and capacities. I will also develop my leadership skills and professional networks by majoring in business. As part of my education, I will engage with other students, lead classwork groups, and participate in business projects, which will sharpen my leadership and networking skills. On a personal level, a major in business will provide me with practical, real-life skills such as personal finance management and problem-solving skills.
I recently participated in a group research project that had a fixed deadline. I quickly realized that completing the project on time would be difficult because some group members saw it as a complex, hard-to-achieve task. To motivate and inspire them to complete the project on time, I divided the task into smaller tasks, and we would celebrate each time a group member achieved a milestone. Celebrations involved acknowledging and appreciating group members’ hard work by simply saying 'thank you' and 'great work.' I also inspired them by being a good example; I completed my smaller tasks on time. We finished the project ahead of the deadline.
