You will conduct research and state a proposal. Through the legislative process, your proposal for the problem or concern may influence an idea for change into a law.

After viewing the scenario, refer to the "Legislative Assignment." You will need to save the document first in order to use it.

There isn’t any law that protects the storage of patient’s records any health facility. They must give the patient a chance of not less than 60days before destroying their records. The patient can obtain the originals before the collection period expires if he/she wishes to.
* My proposal/idea.
The law must outline an obligation by the healthcare providers to provide a statement to the patient or their representative that sets forth the patient’s rights and the intended retention period for the records.
The law must give the patient at least 90days before the records are destroyed.
The law must give the patient a chance to obtain original medical records only if the request is made before the destruction date.
The bill would authorize the health care provider to charge the patients the cost of mailing the records.
