Reflection on Synthesis Writing
Although the time settings were different, both Synthesis 1 and the Midterm Exams were writing assignments that required you to analyze, derive connections, and develop an argument from sources. Thoughtfully consider and answer the following reflection questions.
Synthesis 1
What were you most satisfied with in the final draft of your Synthesis 1?
If you had more time or another draft, what changes would you have made? What lessons will you carry forward and apply for Synthesis 2?
Review the Turnitin feedback. look at text comments, blue feedback marks, and the grade rubric. Which parts of your Synthesis 1 Final Draft comments or feedback do you agree with? What surprised you? Why?
Based on the feedback for your Synthesis 1 Final Draft, what language area do you think requires some attention? What actions, approaches, or tools might help you to make some progress in this area? If no particular language items stand out in your writing, then discuss how you approach word choice and vocabulary development in academic writing. Do you use the source articles for inspiration, or what strategies or tools do you rely on when deciding on which terms to use?
Midterm
Hello, I will upload the midterm feedback once it released.
Why do you think writing and synthesizing in a timed setting is beneficial? Or, what was easier in this setting than in writing your untimed Synthesis 1 drafts? What strategies can you derive for your next synthesis paper?
Look at the feedback give to your Midterm. What is your main takeaway from the feedback about your synthesizing? What will you try to implement or change for your Final Exam?
Writing Process
Now that you have more experience with synthesizing, outline your understanding of the steps or process of writing a synthesis from start to finish.
