Primary Source Analysis
The primary source here is a comic book on Superman. Superman is a fictional superhero and is a property of Detective comics. This Comic was published by 1992/10 - 1992/11. On the cover, the most Conspicuous thing is a red flag that is tattered. It is blowing in the wind on a wooden pole. The flag is seemingly the cloak worn by Superman since the Superman logo is visible. The wooden pole is protruding from the rubble of timber. The atmosphere is at dusk or dawn as the sun is either sinking or rising on the horizon. There are four dark human figures in the backstage of the image. One of them is likely another vigilante or superhero as two arrows are seen sticking on his/her back. The other two are likely morning the death of Superman and one of them is covering his/her face. The sky looks partly cloudy and sunny. Two buildings have cast long shadows such that other little details of the sky are noticeable. At the top, the word Superman’ is written in 3D, and at the bottom is ‘the death of Superman.’ The image portrays a somber mood.

Everyone would want to know what would happen to the city as Superman was a savior of the people and who would take up his mantle. Basically, the image was a marketing ploy that was designed to heighten the death of Superman. The curiosity sparked among comic book fans by the death of the most influential superhero of the time without much information on what would ensue would be a good cliffhanger to make them buy the book. The comic book came to be the most sold comic book of the year.
The idea was to wean the company off the dependence of Superman and usher in a new era of creating new superhe...
