Influences on High-tech Garbage Bins
Introduction:
Trash management is an enormous problem in many areas in the world. This is the reason for placing the garbage bins along with the corners of houses and communities. The trash smells poorly. Moreover, it also becomes a distraction to the community. It happens when garbage is not properly managed by the household and the local government. It is either there is no proper waste management implemented by the government or there is no strict policy that makes the households recycle their waste at home. Nowadays, people lack the awareness of environmental protection and garbage classification. Some people like to litter everywhere, which causes burden and inconvenience to sanitation workers. Sometimes, the overflowing garbage can cause trouble to passers-by as well. Classifying the garbage means putting your plastic wrapper in the right garbage bin which says degradable. People invented high-tech garbage bins to help recycle and sort garbage. They can recycle and treat waste better, and reduce the workload of sanitation workers. These inventions also try to solve the problem of waste management by storing garbage in the most modern way. However, like all technology, these modernized garbage bins must have issues due to its maintenance needs. Managing the garbage properly is already a problem. Garbage problems caused by technological issues is another problem that may inconvenience people later on.
The following are the research questions: 1) Can high-tech garbage bins help people progress, improve environmental awareness, and save energy and beautify the city? and 2) Do high-tech garbage bins bring convenience to people? The primary objective of this research is to compare and contrast the high-tech garbage bin and traditional garbage bin. This paper shall discuss their strengths and weaknesses and their advantages and disadvantages in order to answer the problem statement.
Problems:
The garbage problem has always been one of the concerns of communities. Although there are ordinances that are specifically for waste management, there are places that find it hard to deal with the garbage problem. Some places would solve the problem by burning or burying garbage. This method will remove their waste but it will cause environmental and health problems (Planet Natural, 2019).
In an attempt to solve the garbage problems, modernization and technological advancements are made. These advancements have brought convenient method in collecting and storing garbage ( HYPERLINK "/science/article/pii/S1110062118301375" \l "!" However, because some technology are made from machinery and high-maintenance tools, it is bound to break if not well-managed. Maintenance of modern garbage bins would cost people some money which they can give as salary to garbage collectors instead. If the modern bin cannot be fixed, they may have to buy another model which will cost them more money.
