Artists United Against Apartheid- Sun City:Analysis

Speech Presentation Instructions:

This Assignment I have to record myself, so you can format it however you'd like, but just not too complicated to read. Thank you very much. **********************
And these are the details of the assignment:
You will present your analysis in the form of a video (((no more than 10mins))) that will include the following:
1. Discussion of the social, historical, political context in which the art was created (keep it brief but informative)
2. Background information on the artist(s) (keep it brief but informative)
3. Explanation of the artist’s purpose. For example, are they trying to inform us of something, argue something, etc. (keep it brief but informative)
4. Evaluation of whether the piece is/was effective in achieving its purpose (provide support for your position)
5. Argument/evaluation of whether or not it is “good”/”valuable” art
You must use relevant aesthetic principles from 1-7 (use only the ones that apply to your argument and do not use #8) to make your argument, as well as supporting your argument by making specific reference back to evidence from the piece of art.
For example,
“The song “Sun City” is valuable according to the aesthetic principle that states “Objects are aesthetically valuable if they have the capacity to help bring about social or political change”. When the artists sang,
Ain't gonna play sun city
Relocation to phony homelands
Separation of families i can't understand
23 million can't vote because they're black
We're stabbing our brothers and our sisters in the back
they were drawing attention to the conditions that existed under Apartheid and urging others to stand up in support of Black South Africans.”
Keep in mind that some principles are compatible, while others contradict each other (refer to the 'Art and Reasoning' document).
"Note:"
Background information should not be the focus of your presentation. Your focus should be on the analytical elements relating to points 4, and 5 above.
Any plagiarism will result in a zero grade on the assignment. Be sure to properly paraphrase, summarize, quote, and reference all information.
All assignments must be uploaded online someplace where you can provide your professor with a link to your submission. Links to your completed assignment must be submitted in the assignment dropbox.

The song “Sun City” is a wonderful song that appeals to both the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of the aesthetic experience. The song was primarily written by Van Zandt and was performed by a conglomerate of various artists. This piece of art has a unique value from the cooperation of various popular individuals and groups. Their diverse background highlights the cause for their unity, which is to reject racial discrimination, oppression, and division perpetuated by the system and those in power. In this recording, the will and the support of the famous artists inspired the people and the generations to come to think with empathy, understanding, and humanistic empowerment. Their main goal was to reject the apartheid, as they vowed to never perform at Sun City.
The intrinsic value of this piece of art is in how its message creates an introspection among its listeners. It invites the audience to rethink the established system and reject inhuman ways. The immutable and undeniable human elements of love, cooperation, and equality are among the things that are intrinsically remembered, as the art piece presents it with intensity and coherence. The internal experience of the listeners reflects the lyrics and content of the song. The intrinsic aesthetic of the song comes primarily from the message, which excites and triggers the emotions of its listeners.
