Greetings ladies and gentlemen,
The film Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood, is an American heroic movie that was released in September 2016 by Warner Bros. The film is based on the true story of captain Sullenberger, who made an emergency landing on the Hudson River for US Airways Flight 1549, in January 2009. In the film, all 155 passengers and crew survived where some suffered minor injuries and post-stress and trauma attacks (Eastwood, 2017). The plane faced an engine malfunction after hitting a bird in the air. Sully was in a dilemma, whether to land or continue with the journey to the airport but made a tough decision saving lives.
Ladies and gentlemen, Sully is a hero and an excellent decision-maker. When the bird hit the engine, he concluded they were damaged and after consultation decided to land on the Hudson river. He maintained his composure and assured everyone on the plane that they would be safe landing on the river as the aircraft would not make it to land at the airport. He considered human factors, their lives, and his safety and the surprise of the occurrence which would have resulted in a fatal loss of life.
Further, everyone in Captain Sully’s position would have made a similar decision or taken a leap of faith, that the aircraft will land at the airport. From the simulation, the conclusion was that the aircraft would not have made it to the airport which makes the captain a hero and life safer.
