Racial and cultural discrimination is perhaps one of the most pressing issues that the world is yet to solve. Recent news has shown us that systemic racism is still dominant in society and that new methods of intervention are direly needed. Accordingly, our paper sought to address this problem by understanding how to treat this problem from the root cause. Specifically, we developed different interactive and collaborative inclusive activities that allowed young students to engage in the form of play with those coming from different ethnicities and backgrounds in life.
Interestingly, our study yielded several promising results. First, we found out that students who are engaged in inclusive practices as early as possible tend to develop a sense of equality and social justice among themselves. This is promising, especially considering social values tend to develop during this age. Second, we also found out that students who engage in inclusive practices are more likely to develop good teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Skills that are patently crucial for his academic and career success as he grows.
All in all, our research showed that it is best to teach children the importance of equality and inclusivity by fostering a collaborative and interactive environment for everyone. Primarily, schools should act as a beacon for students to develop these traits in order to foster equality and success in all phases of the child’s life.
