Informative Speech:
I would like my speech to be about eating disorder: My personal experience: My younger sister hid her eating disorder from my family for two years. We slowly saw her become anxious and depressed so that we couldn't talk or eat in front of her. She used her eating disorder issues to get what she wanted. Informative Speech - Eating Disorder
Hello everyone. Today we will talk about a not-so-interesting topic: Eating disorders. As the name suggests, it is just a disorder. But it is much more than that. This problem is much closer to our hearts than we want to admit. Imagine this. You have a young sister who is the apple of your family’s eye until disaster strikes one day. This disaster never announces its arrival but slowly begins to take hold of the life of your loved one. For the coming years and months, you witness your sister lose her vigor and become anxious and depressed. Activities like talking and sharing a meal as a family that previously brought joy to everyone become impossible to partake in front of her, and she slowly becomes manipulative with everyone. That is my family’s story. These disorders are serious and dangerous psychological illnesses that can profoundly affect an individual’s physical and mental health. According to Peebles and Sieke (2019), there are approximately thirty million persons with eating disorders in the US alone.

The most common one is anorexia nervosa, affecting around one in every hundred women (Streatfeild et al., 2021). It is characterized by a severe and persistent lack of interest in food, accompanied by dieting to the point of malnutrition or weight loss. The least known among the three categories is bulimia nervosa. It...
