Grace Lin’s “The Windows and Mirrors of Your Child’s Bookshelf” is an outstanding TEDx Talk showing the importance of children having books as mirrors and windows to learn more about themselves and the world. Notably, I connected with what Lin said, particularly about ignoring her Chinese ethnicity since she did not want to be perceived as a different child compared to other American children (Lin, 2016). Indeed, it can be challenging to interact with others when one comes from a distinct race or culture.
