In a community constantly impacted by disasters, it is increasingly important to preserve the BM for us to learn more about our cultural heritage.
The specific rationale for preparing this presentation was to inform the audience concerning the need to comprehend BM’s risk management and disaster planning approaches. Under the 1963 British Museum Act, the BM trustees are accountable to parliament for the custody and care of the collection and for making them accessible to the public. The collection objects are well-kept for the public benefit in the present and future. The conservation purpose is to lessen the decrease of public benefit triggered by the deterioration of the collection. Therefore, risk management and disaster planning are important to ensure that the collections in the museum are safe.
The BM is a state-funded museum devoted to human history and culture. It is amongst the finest museums globally, with a broad collection premised on the collection of eighteenth-century antiquarians. However, it has currently developed to include an exceptional selection of objects globally and depicts human history from the ancient period.
