Greetings, ladies, and gentlemen, allow me to give insight into a New York Times article, The Root of Ukraine war: How the crisis developed. The article provides a comprehensive analogy of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. First, Russia invaded Ukraine to prevent them from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO). Russian president, Vladimir Putin, believes that Ukraine is part of Russia geographically, culturally, and historically. Thus, his attack on Ukraine is to reclaim them and make sure they do not join NATO and remain a part of Russia.
Consequently, the article impacts politics and the relationship between Russia, Ukraine, and their allies. The United States, through president Biden, offered protection to the NATO nations surrounding Russia by increasing the number of US troops. However, Vladimir's resistance to dialogue and mediation triggers the feeling that he is in for World war III. Before the Ukrainian invasion, Russian president Putin shared with Nato the proposed changes to the rejected European security structure. To enhance relations, the united state, through its president joe Biden froze assets and money in the bank as a way of financial attack. Additionally, the US prevented Russia from importing American technology, which is crucial for Russian defense.
Even though the Ukrainian invasion by Russia is the largest mobilization since world war II, Russia has not been successful. They anticipated capturing major cities and defeating Ukraine, but they were not yet successful attributing to various factors.
