The Impact of Social Policies on Child Development and Well-Being
Topic Background and Aim of the Research
Social policies are part of the government’s efforts to support children’s education and well-being outcomes. Policy development in relation to children’s well-being does constitute not only an education issue but also the security and health of the children. Therefore, the primary aim of the thesis is to contribute to the limited evidence on the impact of different social policy programs and initiatives on children’s development and well-being in general. In other words, the research aims to establish how education, security, and health outcomes have evolved with respect to social policy initiatives.
Research Objectives
The following research objectives guide the study:
* To establish the impact of a child’s social circumstances on their development and well-being.
* To determine the impact of family economic security policies on child development and well-being.
* To establish the impact of the health policy on child development and well-being.
* To determine the impact of a school’s education policy on children’s development and well-being.
A Social Scientific Rationale
The thesis will utilize a thematic and analytic framework drawing on John Kingdon’s multiple streams theory to gather and share evidence and learning on what culminated in heightened social policy recognition of and policy changes within child education and well-being (Abbott et al., 2019, p. 1). Kingdon discredits the rational actor framework and asserts that various solutions exist for various policy issues, including child education and well-being outcomes. The social scientific justification for the thesis is that time and diverse resources are limited (Hoefer, 2022, pp. 1-2). Although individual decision-makers have the time and ability to address social policy issues, the world seems laded with unlimited issues that might be addressed via scholarly research and the implementation of sound policies.
Review of Relevant Literature
According to Spencer and Komro (2017), family economic security programs impact children’s health outcomes, behaviours and development in any given society. Loudghiri and Fazouane (2022) noted that...
