Anyone who has had a difficult childhood and has odds stacked against them every step of the way leads a life laden with personal battles. A childhood that exposes one to external battles from a young age leads to developing a mindset that is not easily defeated. Every battle in the world is first won in mind. If the mind of a fighter is convinced to win, then the chances are high that a person will maintain a positive mindset regardless of the results of a battle. I have seen this happen countless times with boxers. Someone walks into the boxing ring and gets defeated badly. However, in their next fight and maybe ten more after their defeat, they happen to impose damaging defeats on their opponents. While this does not happen to every boxer, often, it speaks to the mindset of a boxer. Those who manage to dust off and rise up to fight back often go through a rigorous training program where they get to work on their mindsets. Such fighters get to understand that all that matters is how they view themselves and whether they will allow their defeat to be the last story of their careers.
