Reason I Want to Become a Nurse Midwife
Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by human recreation, particularly assisting pregnant mothers to deliver healthy babies. I remember at some point asking my mother about the joy associated with childbirth. Although she did not give me a detailed overview, I could see in her eyes how she was happy when she described how she felt after giving birth to me. On that note, my primary reason for becoming a nurse midwife is to help mothers deliver babies and enhance their joy. I want to ensure that expectant women receive appropriate assistance during their pregnancies, labor, and post-partum. I appreciate God’s creation of females and how they are able to procreate. I always feel satisfied when I hear the baby cry and breath for the first time after birth. I am self-motivated to be a midwife and I want to improve my knowledge and skills in the field to help as many mothers as I can to deliver healthy babies.
Understanding of the Nurse Midwifery Specialty
I fully understand the responsibilities of a nurse-midwifery specialty. A nurse midwifery specialty entails studying childbirth and females’ reproductive health. The field prepares an individual to become a professional midwife who offer quality family-centered primary healthcare services. I have gained proper knowledge and skills in this discipline after working as a registered midwife at Mulago Hospital, Kampala, Uganda from January 2006 to December 2010. In the United States of America (USA), I have enrolled in various courses related to a nurse-midwifery specialty.
